Three eLearning modules have been developed for each of Diabetes Educators, Nurses and Aged Care Workers, working in aged care settings. The eLearning modules aim to expand the knowledge and experience of managing people with diabetes by enhancing understanding of the ageing process and its effects on the care and support of people with diabetes. The module for aged care workers includes:
- Section 1: What is Diabetes?
- Section 2: Person-Centred Care and Scope of Practice
- Section 3: Blood Glucose Monitoring
- Section 4: Hypoglycaemia
- Section 5: Hyperglycaemia
- Section 6: Nutrition and Oral Health
- Section 7: Physical Activity
- Section 8: Prevention of Falls, and Skin, Foot and Eye Care
- Section 9: Medicines
- Section 10: Depression and Anxiety
- Section 11: Dementia and Delirium
- Section 12: Language for People with Diabetes

There are three separate courses with content developed in line with the roles and responsibilities of people supporting older people with diabetes:
- Aged care workers – how to provide safe and effective care, how to respond in an emergency
- Nurses – different types of diabetes, primary prevention and early detection, nutrition
- Diabetes Educators -managing care needs of older people, understanding the ageing process
In the course for aged care workers: At the beginning of each section you will find an overview of the learning outcomes and some recommended reading to further your knowledge and understanding. There also self-reflection questions and a quiz for each section, the quizzes are compulsory and must be answered in order to move onto the next section. A grade of 75% or above is required in each section to receive a certificate of completion.
