Where can I get more help?
Caring for someone with palliative care needs requires you to be healthy and well. There are some useful services that can help you to care so that you can keep caring for as long as possible. To get started here we list some resources that can be useful for everyone as well as resources developed for specific population groups.
For everyone
CarerHelp website has a range of resources and information for carers of people receiving palliative care. Choose the pathway that suits your needs to find key resources.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Finding the support that is right for you and your family/carers is important. The Australian government's My Aged Care website has information that meets your cultural and care needs.
Care leavers
Alliance for forgotten Australians is an advocacy group for Care Leavers. Their finding help webpage provides information on advocacy groups and support services by state.
Cultural and linguistically diverse people
The Victorian State Government Better Health Channel website provides information relating to palliative care for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Information is available in many commonly spoken languages and pages can be printed.
Homelessness
Find a homelessness support service near you with the Salvation army service finder accessed through their website. Some of the services they offer are accommodation, case management services, advocacy, limited financial assistance, counselling and meals, as well as connection and referral to other specialist services.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex
Empowering older LGBTI people is the main focus of the advocacy group Alice's Garage. They promote healthy LGBTI ageing and offer a range of resources through their website including the stories and experiences of others.
Prisoners
The VACRO organisation's website connects you with online and in-person support for adults in prison or post-prison and their families. Their Request support section may help you to reconnect.
Rural and remote areas
The Healthdirect website's section for rural and remote health provides information on health clinics, finding online support, attending hospital and more. They also provide practical tips such as planning ahead.
Older people
The Victorian State Government Better Health channel offers support for people with dementia who live alone. Information on the website ranges from facts about dementia, caring for someone who lives alone, support groups, counselling services, respite and where to get help.
Veterans
